Three-day-a-week, £1,250-a-term school where there are no rules and children sit in a yurt doing what they want

Britain's most hipster school has opened where children have no rules, exams or uniform, climb trees barefoot and learn just three days a week - in a YURT.

Welcome to the £1,250-a-term Green House Education Project in a field in Southstoke, near Bath, which sees your child learn while they sit in the middle of the countryside.

They don't have desks but instead sit on blankets and huddle round wood burning stoves.

They have 23 children aged from 5-14 and their school day is made up of mostly outdoor play, doing what the children want to do and learning through play and interaction, report the Bath Chronicle.

The school is open three days a week - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - leaving children free to spend more time at home with the family or on holiday.

Classes are held either outside if weather is good, or in a yurt or dome with wood burning stove.

They sit in circles and often give a presentation about their chosen passion - result examples include ''ballet, Hebrew traditions to snow leopards''.

Children and teachers live as a real community, learning all the things they need to and such things as how to be kind to each other, how to resolve problems and most of all, how to find their real passion in life.

There are no rules and they are allowed climb trees with whittling knives, encouraging them to take risks and learn how to keep themselves safe.

They also learn how to play freely without supervision.

They wear what they like, one little girl’s passion is ballet so she comes to school in a tutu and wellies, and they spend most of their time outdoors, winter or summer.

Bath mums Anna Robinson and Cindy Adams, both qualified teachers, are behind the Green House project.

Cindy said: “There is a saying ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and that is what we are trying to encourage.

“We are a real community, the children, parents and mentors, we are all one big family.

“Children learn so much through play and interaction with each other, we want them to discover the best of themselves.

“We are very disillusioned with the school system.

“There is something wrong when research shows young children are suffering high levels of anxiety in our schools, we do yoga, meditation and mindfulness and we encourage free play, we want our children to be happy, you can’t learn if you are anxious,” she said.

The school, also encourages risk.

Anna said: “While safety is at the core of what we do, we also like our children to explore, not to be afraid to do things.

“They can climb trees with their whittling knives, we believe they learn safety by understanding the risks and being allowed to do things without always being supervised,” she said.

It's an innovative idea, especially with many parents are looking to alternative ways to educate their children, including home schooling.

Anna’s and Cindy’s children attend the school and they say they are very happy there.

Cindy said: “ I think there is too much pressure on children in mainstream schools.

“We start each day with circle time, a Native American tradition.

“Then each child will give a presentation about their chosen passion, it can be anything from ballet, Hebrew traditions to snow leopards.

“We use technology and they have their power points, but we like to work as a community and spend lots of time outdoors."

Lunch is shared together, social interaction is considered very important for the children and adults.

The Green House was set up in September 2014 to germinate the 'Grow Your Own School' project.

It currently operates from South Stoke House in South Stoke, near Bath, where there is a dedicated geodesic dome, yurt and outdoor teaching spaces that can accommodate up to 23 children in two groups - the Wolf Cubs (5-7) and the Wolf Pack (7+).

It’s proving so popular Cindy and Anna may well have to move to a bigger space, or create more yurt schools around the area.

They are holding a mini conference for anyone interested on July 22-23.
